John Joseph McDonald, 72, of Spring Lake, NC passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2019. He was born in Pittston, PA, the son of the late Alexander and Eleanor Corcron McDonald.
John served in the US Army for six years. He also worked for the NC Department of Transportation in Harnett County before retiring in 2009. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man. He was a wonderful Husband, Dad, Papa and Friend. He had a love for fishing,hunting, and animals. He loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Beverly Morgan McDonald; One biological Daughter, Carianne Myatt and Husband David of Spring Lake, NC; Three Sons, Bernie McDonald and wife Patty of Pittston, PA, Guy McDonald of Chipley, FL, and Arthur Demace of Cameron, NC; Two Daughters, Carmel Shelton and Husband JD of Spring Lake, NC and Nichole Cherry and Husband Clyde of Fayetteville, NC; Sister, Janet Quick of Wilkes Barre, PA; Daughter in Law, Gina McDonald of Cameron, NC; Eleven Grandchildren and five Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a son, Christopher McDonald Sr., Brothers Bernie McDonald and Eddie McDonald, and a sister Mary Ellen McDonald.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Sandhills-Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at 10:00am.
