Nancy "Nan" Burns

June 5, 2019 ~ September 21, 2019

Nancy “Nan” Burns, 71 of Raleigh NC, passed away courageously and peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2019 with family members by her side. Nan was born to the late Denver and Thelma Dillon on June 5, 1948 in Huntington, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ryan Burns and Matt Wallace. She leaves behind her husband of 42 years, Rowland Burns, two sons, George “Brud” Wallace (his wife Rita) and Patrick Burns (his wife Jyll), Lori Wallace (Matt’s wife) and four grandchildren, Kate Wallace, Brooke Wallace, Jackson Burns and Scotti Lane Wallace. Nan was an exceptionally loving, open-hearted woman and a very special family member and/or friend of people of every generation who knew her and will cherish their memories of her forever. As Nan clearly requested, there will be no funeral or public memorial service to respect or celebrate her life and, in consideration of her compassion for children in need, anyone who wishes to honor or express their love for Nan make donations in her memory to Feed the Children, 333 N. Meridian, Oklahoma City, OK 73107. Those who do should include on the memo line of their check or money order “In Memory of Mrs. Nancy Burns” or, if they prefer, call Feed the Children at 1-800-627-4556. The charity asks that these donations not be made online to insure that they are properly applied to Nan’s tribute.
