Alma Jean Redd, affectionately known as, “Mema,” 85 years of age, was called home to the Lord on Monday, November 13, 2023 at her home in Clayton, NC. She was surrounded by her family in her homecoming.
Jean was born on April 28, 1938 to the late Mallie Champion, father and Felma Baker Champion, mother. She had five brothers and one sister that preceded her in death who were Larry Champion, Bobby Champion, Jimmy Dale Champion, Lonnie Champion, Redd Champion, and Vivian Champion Stevenson.
Jean was married to the late Ray Redd and they had eight children. The late Ricky Redd, Donnie Redd, Rocky Redd, Robert Redd of Wake Forest, Mickey Redd of Benson, Brenda Redd Gooch of Clayton, NC, Linda Redd Billings of Smithfield, and Susan Redd Langton of Benson, NC.
Mema loved to spend time with her family, playing bingo, going to the game room, playing scratch off tickets and attending church when she was able. She was a caring and loving person as well as a devoted wife, mother, Mema and friends.
Mema leaves behind one sister Tim Champion Tradonia;17 grandkids; 42 great-grandkids, 3 great-great- grandkids with one on the way; and a host of other relatives and friends.
