Alton Wooten Obituary

Alton Ray Wooten, 57, of Zebulon NC, passed away at Transitions Hospice Center 205 Hospice Circle, Raleigh NC on January 25, 2024.

He was born in LaGrange NC on January 27, 1966 to the deceased Mary Holloway-Jones, and Theodore Roosevelt Wooten, raised by step father Dealous Jones Jr. Alton Wooten attended Wake Forest Middle School and later began working as a concrete laborer. With over 20 years’ experience considered a Master concrete layer. His last employer of the past two years was Environmental Land keepers in Knightdale NC. He enjoyed being outside, music, fixing things, taking country rides, and spending time with his brother Theodore family/friends and dog Roscoe.

Alton Ray Wooten, was preceded in death by his children’s mother Annette Lucas, sons Ray Alton Wooten, Marcus Wooten, and Sister Jennie Wooten. 

He is survived by his siblings Bobby Wooten (Kinston NC) Larry (Charlene) Holloway of New Haven CT, Theodore Wooten Zebulon NC, sisters Edna Thomas (St Diego, California), Minnie Pearl Arnold (Kinston NC) . His children Alton Rodriguez New York, granddaughters Saraya Wooten and Journee Rodriuez , grandsons Elijah Buchannan and Riley. His 19-year companion Sheron “Kathy ”Hockaday. He is also survived by many loved Cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts/ uncles.

A memorial will take place February 3 at 7120 Grape Arbor Lane, Zebulon NC 27597 Lot 17 at 1pm. Please bring a blue balloon.

The “Life Story”

Alton Ray Wooten called Ray by family and friends passed away at 57 on January 25, 2024. He passed away at Transitions hospice in Raleigh NC of cancer.

Alton Ray Wooten loved the Raleigh Hill neighborhood close by Zebulon NC. He lived near there most of his life and loved it so much he rarely left the neighborhood. Rays companion outside was his dog, Roscoe with whom he cared for deeply. He loved children and was known to go to store and bring back snacks and or ice cream. Ray enjoyed taking country rides in Zebulon, spending time in the truck with his brother Theodore and other family/ friends in the neighborhood.

Mr. Ernest Wiggins being one of his good Friends. When family came by he was ready to put something on the grill and play music. He also enjoyed riding his scooter, playing horseshoes, and sitting outside enjoying the country air. Ray enjoyed fixing things; you will often catch him working on a project by his self or with his Brother Theodore. Ray loved to have a good time accompanied by his favorite beer King Cobra. He loved to listen/ dance to music and had classic Ray dance moves.

Ray always would say” I am strong, I am Gods Son and He got me”.
