Andrew was born on October 10, 1964, in Wake County, North Carolina to the late Andrew W. Gholson and mother Brenda Kay Badgett. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at his home in Knightdale, North Carolina. He was the eldest son of Brenda Kay Badgett.
Andrew joined Saint Amanda Baptist Church at an early age. He studied the Bible himself. Andrew graduated from Athens Drive High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. He enjoyed various careers of self-employment that included long-distance truck driving, Lawn care, and tree removal services, and maintenance services. He worked until his health no longer permitted him to perform his duties. He was a jack of many trades.
Andrew was united in holy matrimony for twenty-five years to Phyllis Jean. He is often referred to as "The Queen". Andrew was well-loved by family and friends. He will be missed in the lives and hearts of those he touched. Andrew had a great passion for singing. He truly loved being the MC for family reunions and events. He had a contagious smile and a wonderful sense of humor.
Andrew leaves to cherish precious memories and share his home-going celebration: wife, Phyllis Jean Badgett of the home; his loving mother, Brenda Kay Badgett; daughter, Ashley Brooks Thompson of New York, NY; son, Omar Williams of Dubai; sister, Tracy Lavonnie Gholson Hinton; brothers, Henry Lee Gholson, Benjamin Gholson, and Marlow Gholson all of Raleigh, North Carolina; mother-in-law, Christine Rushing of New York; sisters-in-law, Debbie Perry (Jerry) Garner, NC, Cynthia Gladden, Knightdale, NC, and Lisa Rushing, New York, NY. His maternal great aunt, Amelia B. Woods of Garner, NC, aunts Dorothy B. Smith Garner, NC, Gail Elliott Raleigh, NC and uncles Jimmy Badgett (Bertha) Garner, NC Larry Badgett Raleigh, James Rickey Elliott (Diane) Garner, NC, Dwight Ray Elliott (Bertha) Raleigh, NC, and Gary Elliott Cary, NC. Andrew also leaves to cherish a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
