Barbara Ann Marshall, 78, dearly beloved mother, grandmother, and wife passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021, with her son, Arthur, and daughter-in-law, Kelia, at her side. They will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Barbara Ann Marshall was born Barbara Ann Clayborne in 1942 to her loving parents in Manhattan, New York. She was the only child of Catherine Green. Barbara was a dedicated, hard-working mother and grandmother. In her early years, she attended high school in Hamilton Heights, New York, and soon began working for Verizon as a telephone operator until she retired after 30 years of service. She was intensely committed to her community and spent more than 20 years managing multiple residential properties in Hamilton Heights and Harlem, New York. She sat on the board of directors for several Housing Development Fund Cooperation (HDFC) properties in and around her community. She also managed and supervised an annual NYC Playstreet on W151st Street each summer to help children and families be more active in order to help address the city’s childhood obesity epidemic.
Known to many as "Grandma", Barbara poured her heart into her grandson, Artis, and enjoyed many years participating in and supporting his interest in both school and baseball. Barbara had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. Her outgoing personality brought laughter and joyful memories to everyone she met.
Barbara is survived by her son, Arthur; daughter-in-law, Kelia; grandson, Artis; granddaughter-in-law, Skye; grandson-in-law, Shae; a host of relatives and close friends.
She will be lovingly missed and remembered by all.
