Burnice Alexander "OZ" Johnson Walker transitioned in life on May 8, 2021, at the age of 67, at Duke Raleigh Hospital. He was born on Nov. 11, 1953, in Chapel Hill, NC to Matilda Walker and Raymond Walker and was later raised by Manning Red Johnson & Sarah Elizabeth Burnett Johnson of Raleigh, NC.
He graduated from Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC. He was an athlete; a track star in school and taught himself to play drums. He worked to work several jobs and but spent the majority of his career with Sweet Paper Co./Lagasse,Inc. where he worked for 28th years until he retired due to his failing health. He was a hard worker and believed if you work hard, you should play harder. “Burn” as he was affectionally called by his family; was known as the life of the party and he lived life to the fullest! He was a “Funky Dresser” back in the day, and his signature dance moves were “The Russian Stomp” and "James Brown Slide". He considered himself the 2nd "Godfather of Soul". Next to his first born, his love of motorcycles and cars brought him the most happiness. His favorite car was his "Blue Machine"; a 1988 Honda Accord.
Burnice is preceded in death by both sets of parents, brothers Alvin Walker, and Walter Johnson, and a sister Shirley Davis.
He is survived by his children, Angela Watson & Travis Hunter. He leaves behind his two adoring grandchildren, Jessica and Jarrad Watson; along with 4 great grandchildren, siblings, friends and a host of niece and nephews.
