Donald Smithson was born on March 25th, 1932,to Josphine and Anderson Smithson in Kenbridge, VA. HE was the youngest and last surviving member of his parents' thirteen children. He died July 4th, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. HE move to New York at an early age and became an auto -mechanic. He was affectionately known by his friends and acquaintances as “Bo-Peep”.
He moved to White Plains, NY, and met his future wife Geraldine and they married in 1957. They moved ro Elmsford, NY, in 1965 and built the home which so many have said ‘it was like a second home’ to them. Found memories were made by family and friends who visited and expressed being welcomed, well fed, had lots of fun and much more.
Donald was a self-taught auto mechanic and considered by his peers as one the best. Many of his friends would only allow him to work on their cars, due to his honesty, loyalty, and mechanical expertise. He loved his work and did not digging right in. He also loved to build miniature houses; you can say he was a jack of all trades. In his leisure time he very much enjoyed horseshoes and pool with friends.
Donald is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine, 8 children, Donald Smithson Jr. (Roseanne) of Breswster, Ny, Cynthia Bevan (Edward) of Carmel, NY, Sheila Lewis (Micheal) of Wake Forest, NC, Donna Taliaferro (Cleo) of Raleigh, NC, Jeffey Smithson (Mery) of Raleigh, Nc, Wanda Coleman (William) of Rolesville, NC, Tonia McClam (Donald) of Mebane, NC, and Darin Smithson (Wanda) of Lagrangeville, NY. He had 14 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
