Elizabeth Ann Rein went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 30, 2021. She was 93 years old. Betty was born on August 24, 1928 in Trenton, NJ to Raymond Rein and Catherine Rein (nee Welch). She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1949 and worked in the Obstetrical Unit at Mercer Hospital for 20 years, helping bring hundreds of babies into the world. Betty started as a Staff Nurse, advancing to Head Nurse, Assistant Supervisor and then Supervisor. During this time, she also received a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Trenton State College. In 1970, she moved to the School of Nursing as an instructor, becoming Director in 1987 and remained in that position until her retirement in 1993.
For 30 years, Betty cared for her mother and Aunt, traveled throughout the US, and took up camping. She was very generous with her time and resources, always taking nephews and nieces, family and friends on her vacations and adventures. She was a blessing to many, and will be fondly remembered by those who knew her.
After her mother’s death in 1985, she traveled to Israel and Yugoslavia, and continued her travels in the US and Canada. She also volunteered at Mercer Hospital for a number of years, often serving as chair of various committees.
In 2018, Betty relocated to Raleigh, NC – and did not miss the winter snows. Her family and friends mourn her passing, but can find comfort in these words we are certain that Betty has heard: “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your lord.”
