Ellen Shelton Commodore of Cary, North Carolina passed away at her home on September 25, 2021. She was born September 12, 1945, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Ellen was the daughter of the late Paul Marshall Shelton and Judith Giles Shelton. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Commodore and her brother Jerry Lee Shelton.
Ellen was a graduate of UNCG. She was the secretary of "The Living Now Group of Alcoholics Anonymous" for many years. AA is a wonderful organization that greatly changed her life. For the last 12 years, she formed numerous bonds with wonderful people that became a second family to her that we will forever be grateful for.
Ellen was a devoted sister, “Mums”, Aunt “Andy” and friend to many. She will be greatly missed and will be in our hearts forever. She leaves behind many wonderful memories to cherish. She spent the last two weeks of her life at Topsail Island, it was her happy place. She returned home and was able to spend a few hours with her beloved cats before she left this earth.
She is survived by her feline children, Emma Claire and Juliette. She is also survived by her twin sister Kitty Shelton Anderson (Owen) of Durham, NC, and sister Judy Shelton Wheeler (Bruce) of Austin, Texas. Niece, Julie Fulcher (Trey) of Creedmoor NC, nephews Jerry Anderson of Myrtle Beach, Robert Paul Wheeler, and Richard Barry Wheeler of Austin, Texas. Two great-nieces Lindsey Fulcher and Kasey Herrington (Micah) and one great-nephew John Paul Fulcher and one great-nephew, Waylon Herrington, cousin Kathy “BG” McHale, other cousins, and numerous friends. She is also survived by stepsons Joseph Commodore (Yvette) and Brian Commodore (Kendall) and seven step-grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of Ellen’s life on October 24th, 1-4 pm at Triangle Alano Club 177 High House Road Cary, North Carolina 27511.
