Ernest Dykes Obituary

Ernest Ray Dykes, 75, passed away on September 16th, 2023, at his residence in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was born on December 13th, 1947, to William and Jeanette Dykes in Kingman, Indiana. Ernest retired from International Harvester, Navistar in Springfield, Ohio in 2008.

He was proceeded in death by two sons, Eric and Evan Dykes, his parents, and three brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Allison Dykes (Dunn), and his daughter Erin Myers-Renaghan, son-in-law Breandan Renaghan, and his five grandchildren, Ericson, Eoghan, Caoilinn, Lochlann, and Aoife. He is also survived by two brothers, Gordon Dykes of Springfield, Ohio and Leland Dykes of Mitchell, Indiana.

Ernest was a 1965 graduate of Farmington High School in Farmington, Illinois. He was drafted by the US Army in 1966 and served 4 years with an Honorable Discharge.

Memorial Service will be held in Elmwood, Illinois on October 14th, 2023.
