Obituary

Fletcher Darren Farmer 42, who resided in Louisburg, NC passed away on Saturday April 8, 2023. Fletcher was born on January 20, 1981 to Roy and Kay Farmer in Sumter, South Carolina.

He graduated from Apex High school in 1999 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his military career, he served in several deployments and was awarded the Air Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award), National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/ 3 Stars, and the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional, Development Ribbon. Fletcher was known for his dedication, discipline, and selflessness. He always put the needs of his country and his fellow soldiers above his own. He was a mentor to many of his colleagues and was respected by all who knew him.

Fletcher was truly an authentic soul. He had a strong work ethic and was definitely one you would want to have on your team. He loved everything about basketball, from playing to watching he thoroughly enjoyed analyzing the game. He also had a passion for music and was a skilled guitarist. He was a proud father to two sons, Cole age 13, and Liam age 5. We thank him for his service to our country and will forever honor his memory.

Fletcher was predeceased by his father Roy Farmer.

He is survived by his mother Kay Farmer; his sons Cole and Liam; his siblings and their significant others Allie Farmer and Thomas Kearney, Jason and Bre Farmer; his fiancée Bethany Brown and her daughter Victoria; his nieces Ja'Sona Farmer and Beverly Kearney and nephew Zay Jackson; and numerous aunts and uncles.

A celebration of his life will be held on May 19th @ 1pm at Ritter Park, Rotary Shelter, located at 301 W. Lochmere Dr., Cary NC 27518. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish to share and wear something that reminds of Fletcher (Ex. Band t-shirt, Carolina, Celtics, The Office, etc.), casual and comfortable just like he would want.
