GLORIA LEE HARRISON (MOORE)
6/1/1950 - 3/23/2023
Gloria, daughter of Ralph Moore and Beverly (Collins), died on March 23, 2023.
She attended Cave Spring High School, Virginia Western Community College and Roanoke Memorial Hospital School of Professional Nursing in Roanoke. A curious and exemplary autodidact, she was an avid reader. She loved music and expressed her creativity through writing fiction and poetry.
She transformed her traumatic childhood and struggles into a deep commitment advocating for those with mental health disruptions and their families. She contributed service to NAMI NC in Raleigh for over 20 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Marlena, and her second husband of nearly 50 years, Tom. She had three stepchildren, David, Dena and Tim, a granddog, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by three of her six half siblings: Barbara, Rusty and Joyce.
An informal wake will be held in celebration of her birthday and life:
