Maria H’Kam “Ya Tuy” RCom passed away on March 13, 2022 at Universal Healthcare at the age of 87. She was the wife of the late Klir Siu, who passed away on August 6, 2014. She married Klir Siu in 1948 and shared sixty-six beautiful years together before his passing. They welcomed five children into this world: H’Lem (deceased), H’Ni, Tu, Thuon, and Mih RCom (deceased).
Ya Tuy is lovingly remembered by her daughter, H’Ni, and her two sons Tu and Thuon Rcom; grandchildren: Tuy, H’Kit, H’Ko, Kim, Chim, H’Mim, H’Mal RCom, Them RCom, Thieu RCom, H’Der Ksor; her sisters, H’Lut and H’Bluk RCom, and her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Wor Ksor and H’Nher Rcom, brothers Po RCom and Nhut RCom, husband, Klir Siu, daughter, H’Lem RCom, her son, Mih RCom, and granddaughter, H’Nai RCom.
She was born on March 5, 1935 in the District of Cheo Reo (Pleiku Province), Vietnam. H’Kam was the first born daughter of Wor Ksor and H’Nher RCom. Living in Vietnam, she was an amazing seamstress and a hardworking farmer. She spent her days working with her mother in their market selling commodities to the French soldiers during Vietnam’s French Regime. In December of 1995, she came to America seeking freedom and refuge with her husband and son, Thuon. She worked one year at Biscuitville and ten years at Fisher’s Bakery and Sandwich Shop.
H’Kam was an active parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church since she came to America. She enjoyed going to church every Sunday with her son, Thuon. She is remembered to be a very nurturing, loving and hardworking woman who cared for and watched over many during her life. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She adored her grandnieces Jacquelina, Julia, and Jenna, and grandnephew Justin tremendously. She had a very kind heart and saw people’s good will despite their struggles and shortcomings. People loved her vibrant smile and the sweetness of her soul. Her beautiful soul is now at rest in Heaven with all her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 1pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Following her funeral ceremony, she will be laid to rest with her late husband at Oakwood Cemetery at 2:30pm.
