Jim Clark was born in Lee, Massachusetts to the late Lloyd James Clark and Elizabeth Louise Clark. After graduating from Greenfield High School he attended Westfield State College and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He received a Master of Social Work from the University of Connecticut and held a certificate in Forensic Social Work.
Jim had several careers and interests throughout his life. He started his professional career as a journalist in Northampton, MA., and continued in Nova Scotia, Canada. Upon his return to Massachusetts, he combined his educational background and interests in community activism to focus a career in social work.
During the 1960’s, Jim was active with Woolman Hill Quaker Retreat Center, Deerfield MA. Later in his career he specialized in Geriatrics. After moving to North Carolina, he opened a private practice in Apex.
He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots. Golfing, music, reading and camping in the mountains were some of his other favorite pastimes.
Jim is survived by his wife Sharon Ruth Litourneau-Clark, their children; Alia Lizotte, Shelley Paluch, Shannon Litourneau and Shawn Litourneau; his brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and April Estis-Clark; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Rebecca Clark.
A private service will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
