Mr. James “Paul” Hobby Mcphatter passed away on May 8, 2023 at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington, N.C. He was born on March 21, 1964 to the late John Henry Mcphatter Sr. and Evelyn Mcphatter, at Good Hope Hospital in Dunn, North Carolina.
“Paul” was raised in the Lillington area with his family. He continued all his childhood education in Harnett County schools. He graduated from Harnett Central High School, in Angier N.C. He moved away to Tennessee but found his way back to his home state
“Paul” was well known in his community, often found working hard and always lending a helping hand. He was known as a caring brother, uncle and friend to many people. He began his career shortly after high school as a construction worker with an asphalt company. He worked in this industry with several companies for over 30 years, it was such a passion for him. He also enjoyed beautifying lawns and growing the most beautiful plants you have ever seen. He truly adored his family and friends. Each second was worth everything to him. His smile was contagious, and his laughter would shift the atmosphere. He loved to cook and enjoyed blessing his family friends with his recipes. He kept the room full of love and wasn’t afraid to let his family know how much he really loved them. He would often make jokes and tease us all about his favorite team in the world “DUKE”. He would representing his team to the fullest. He was such a bright light and no matter what was going on, he didn’t let his light go dim. He was a man of peace, joy, happiness, and loved everyone.
He is preceded in death by his parents John Henry and Evelyn Mcphatter, brother: John Henry Mcphatter Jr., sisters: Mary Mcphatter, Marseller Mcphatter, Bonita Atkins, and sister-in-law Dora McNeill.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are, his brother Charlie McNeill of Wagram N.C and Daniel Hector Mcphatter (Cathy) of Lillington, N.C. sisters: Annie Louise Mcphatter of Erwin, N.C, and Annie Mae Mcphatter of Lillington, N.C. He has a host of nieces and nephews who he truly adored and was so proud of. He also had many special friends that he considered to be family.
The family of James “Paul” Mcphatter would like to thank everyone for all your prayers, words of comfort, and many acts of kindness. Words cannot express how thankful we are for the love and support that we have received.
