Our beloved Katrina Smith, 42, of Washington DC, passed away on September 14, 2023, in Durham, NC. She was born on May 12, 1981, in Washington DC. Katrina Genee Smith commonly known as Trina, was an upbeat and charismatic soul with a comedic personality. Her infectious laugh, gorgeous smile, and God-given singing voice brought joy to those around her.
Trina is survived by her three beautiful daughters, Shemaiah, Gabrielle, and Azah Smith. She is also survived by her two sisters, Shervonne Smith and April Smith-Holmes, her father-in-law Irving Smith, her loving mother June Smith, three nephews, and a plethora of cousins, aunts, uncles, and close friends. Trina was preceded in death by her father, Milton Charles Smith, her grandfathers Milton Smith and Lovanes Ford, and her grandmothers Harriet Ford and Doris Smith.
In her educational journey, Trina attended Winston Educational Center, Garfield Elementary School, and Andrew Jackson Middle School. She later went on to attend Forestville Senior High School where she used her energy and enthusiasm as a cheerleader to uplift others, and sang in the school choir. Trina further pursued her education at the University of District of Columbia.
Trina was a doting and caring mother, with a close relationship with her daughters, She was also a woman of faith and worshiped at Christ Dominion Church. Her strong connection to her faith provided her with guidance and support throughout her life.
Outside of her commitments to her family and faith, Trina was involved in various hobbies. She lent her beautiful voice to church choirs, sharing her talent with the congregation. Additionally, she pursued her passion for acting, showcasing her creativity and expressive nature.
Trina Smith's vibrant personality, infectious laughter, and God-given talents touched the lives of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
