Linda Lee Woodard peacefully passed away at UNC Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and friends on August 4th , 2023 at the age of 75. Linda was born in Goldsboro, NC to Hilary David Sr. and Virginia (Ginn) Woodard, of Rosewood, NC. She graduated from Rosewood High School as Valedictorian and then with a B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Linda worked as a medical technologist at UNC Hospital for her entire career. She was well-known to and well-loved by the many people she met through her church (Aldersgate United Methodist Church and University Methodist), UNC Cancer Hospital volunteer work, advocacy with the Bleeding Disorders Foundation of NC, and many other charities. In her free time, Linda was an avid quilter and always had a camera nearby. Her blue hair attested to a love of UNC sports, particularly women’s and men’s basketball. She had season tickets for five decades and attended more than 600 games. WRAL did a special piece on her love of all things UNC (https://tinyurl.com/l8yblueUNC).
Linda is survived by her brother Hilary David Jr. and Carolyn (Kincaid) Woodard, nephews Justin (Christy Avery) Woodard, Dana Williams, Herbert Jr. Williams, and niece Jordan (Anton) Rivera, beloved great nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends.
She is predeceased by her sister Mary (Herbert Sr.) Williams and her parents Hilary David Sr. and Virgina Woodard. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Baldrick’s Children Cancer Foundation (https://www.stbaldricks.org/give), a charity Linda supported annually by shaving her trademark blue and purple hair.
