Obituary

Marcia Lynn Peter died on September 16, 2021, in Raleigh, N.C. at age 56. Born January 8, 1965, at Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, NE to Frank and Susan. Marcia grew up in Minnesota with her two brothers Brian and David. She always had a strong spirit of adventure throughout her life and enjoyed everything from horseback riding to dune buggy racing to skiing down double black diamonds out west.

She studied packaging engineering at Stout and participated in a student exchange program where she studied in London for a semester and backpacked all through Europe the following summer. She always followed her dreams and stayed true to her heart, she later called this “The Peter Way”. She met her husband Ken while working in California. They made many memories in CA with their best friends, Rich and Mindy and Kevin and Noelle. Countless ski trips, Big Bear cabin visits, beach time, remodeling their first home, and more. Her dedication to skiing was so strong that one time she, Ken, and Comet slept in their 4Runner on a closed road in a snowstorm going to ski in Lake Tahoe.

After some years, Ken and Marcia moved back to Minnesota to raise their children around family. Even after moving back to MN, she kept the tradition of almost yearly family ski trips out west to CO, CA, and MT. She was a selfless caregiver and dedicated mother. With a toughness only matched by affection, she successfully raised three children that she loved more than anything. Her son graduating top of his class as a U.S. Marine was both the proudest moment of her life and a culmination of her love and upbringing.

She is survived by her mother Susan, brothers Brian and David, her husband Ken, and her children,
Courtney, Cody, and Jack.

A memorial service is planned for November 13, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Plymouth Covenant Church in Plymouth, MN.
