Ora Mae Dickey, aka “Chocolate Drop” was born to Juanita Moore and Charlie Lee Noble on October 2, 1941, in Alamo, Georgia and was called to answer her heavenly assignment on July 26, 2023. When she was a youth, Ora Mae attended school in Florida where she was a member of the basketball team until she sustained a leg injury.
After leaving Florida, she moved to Washington, D.C. and was employed by the CIA as their head cook. Ora Mae also met Jonathan and their romance led them to marrying one another. On July 6,1964 and during their marriage they had 4 children together. Ora Mae lived in D.C. many years after the death of her husband. She later found love again with Willie Alston and the 2 moved to Louisburg, North Carolina where she was a home health caregiver until 2007 because of health-related issues.
Ora Mae was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was loving, caring, kind strong and loved to cook. She made those who interacted with her laugh and smile. She was rooted in faith and kept so many children in her lifetime.
Ora Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Juanita Moore and Charlie Lee Noble; husband, Jonathan Dickey; son, Larry Donnell Dickey; sister, Sara Williams; brothers Sylvester Pace, Frank Pace, Charles Noble and Donnell Noble (Lillie Mae); and her love, Willie Melvin Alston.
Ora Mae leaves to cherish her loving memories, daughters, Rudella Dunbar of Cobbtown, GA and Lucinda Hinton of Charlotte, NC; son, Jonathan Dickey of Pedricktown, NJ; sisters, Alberta Connor of Ailey, GA and Sandra Noble of Mount Vernon, GA; brothers, Joseph Noble of Ailey, GA, Willie Noble (Janice) of Mount Vernon, GA and Rudolph Noble of Mount Vernon, GA; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
