Oscar Eatmon III passed away on Nov 1, 2020 at the age of 27.
Oscar was born Adam Michael Vermeulen to Katherine Therese Vermeulen in the presence of Helene Friedberg - Hoffman in the East Village of New York City. He moved to Raleigh when he was 6 weeks old to be near his Aunts and Cousins.
Later on he changed his name to Oscar Eatmon III when his mother married Oscar Eatmon Jr. who adopted him. He was a curious, energetic and bright child who was loved by all who met him. He was an avid videographer, working tirelessly on the TV stations at Brassfield Elementary and Broughton High School.
As a man he was a caring and sensitive soul who loved science and technology and had a hilarious sense of humor. He was also a gifted photographer. He attended Wake Technical Community College, earning over 40 credits. Some of his favorite authors and musicians were Carl Sagan, Hunter S. Thompson, Neil DeGrassi Tyson, Wu-tang Clan and the Notorious B.I.G. He LOVED animals, especially his dogs, Daisy and Maya. Oscar was preceded in death by his cat, Sunshine, and his dogs, Snoopy and Nathan.
He was also preceded in death by his Father, Oscar Jr., whose death caused him lifelong pain, his Grandmother Cecilia, his Aunt Monica, and Uncles Billy Ray and Johnny.
He is survived by his beautiful 94 year old Grandmother, Rachel Crummedy Eatmon; precious Sister, Rachel Anna and his devoted Mother, Katherine Therese. He is also survived by his Aunts: Diane, Effie, Jessica, Mary, Pat, Pat V, Rita and Sabina; his Uncles: Ethan, Jerry, Jim, Kenny, Orion, Peter, and Reggie. He was greatly loved by his Cousins: Andrew, David, James, Laura, Matt, Michael, Peter John, Robyn, Tara and Teddy.
His huge loving heart will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His last words to his Mom were, "I love you so much."
Unfortunately, Oscar fought substance abuse, a fight he eventually lost.
