Pamela Darlene (Smith) Businelle

April 9, 1955 ~ May 25, 2022 (age 67)

Obituary

Pamela (Pam) Darlene Smith Businelle passed away on May 25, 2022 while a resident of Zebulon House of Zebulon, NC at the age of 67. Pam was a lifelong North Carolinian.  She was born April 9, 1955 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina to the late Ret. Master Sergeant Lendy Cutler Smith and Shirley Queen Prevatte Smith of Robeson County.

With an incredible sense of creativity and an eye for beauty, Pam was a Floral Designer for many years. She loved flowers, plants and all things that grow. Over the years, many would comment that there was never a plant that Pam Businelle could not save. Her creativity led her to enjoy all types of arts and crafts, and she took great joy in teaching her craft to others. It was no secret that she had an eye for making   anything ordinary extraordinary. She was equally as passionate about the water and enjoyed spending time on the New River in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, as well as being on the ocean at Topsail Island, North Carolina.

As a child born into a military family, she spent a great deal of her childhood living on military bases here in the United States, as well as abroad. She spent time in Munich, Germany and graduated from AFNORTH International School in the Netherlands. Throughout her younger years, she was able to travel much of Europe and appreciated the life she had as a military daughter.  Later, she met her husband, Virgil Businelle from Morgan City, Louisiana, in the Netherlands where he was also stationed at the time. It was there that they welcomed their first child in 1975. They returned to the United States in 1977. She lived a short while in the suburbs of New Orleans, Louisiana, but as a North Carolina native she wanted to spend the remainder of her life close to home.

One of Pam’s greatest joys in life was being a mother. She often expressed to others that they were her greatest accomplishment. She was very proud of each of them for their unique style and love for life.  Her children, Virgil "Sonny" Businelle Jr. and wife Lori, Cynthia Michelle Businelle Foreman and husband Marcus, and Ian Businelle remain behind knowing that their mother is looking down with all of her love until they meet again. She was proud to be a grandmother to Dylan Landry, Reese Businelle, and Matthew Foreman. She will be missed greatly by her siblings Lloyd Smith and wife Donna, Cindy Gebhardt and husband Alan, Frances Eismon, Wayne Smith and wife Diane, Robert Smith and wife Heather, and Nancy Smith. In addition, she leaves many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents,  brother Steve Smith, and special friend Roland “Little Bud” Edens.

Close family and friends will gather to spread her ashes as she wished in an area most special to her, an area that celebrates her love for her family, and her love of the ocean. Her soul will be at rest knowing her family is protected while under her careful watch.
