Richard Dean Schiltz, 62, of Manilla, IA, Passed away on February 25 th from a brain aneurysm.
Richard was born June 19, 1960 as the eighth child to Joe and Irene Schiltz. After graduating High School in 1978 in Manilla, he worked in the local meat processing plant. In 1988, he moved to Lewisville, TX, to live with friends. He worked as a handyman for several different companies. He studied at Tarrant County Junior College and received his certificate in HVAC repair and maintenance.
He moved around in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex for several years before landing in Fort Worth where he worked for Ramada Inn in downtown as a repair and maintenance supervisor.
In 1995, he met Martha (Healey) Schiltz. They moved from Fort Worth, TX to Montgomery, AL, and then landed in Durham, NC, where they remained for 27 years. They were married in 1997. Richard is survived by his wife and 3 children – Rebecca, Thomas, and Amanda; his Sister Lois, and brothers, Bill, Bob, Ray, Glenn, Tim, and Alan. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Lorraine.
In lieu of flowers, the children of Richard request donations to the Keep Durham Beautiful non-profit organization for a pollination garden.
