Roy Richard Cooper Jr., age 49, passed away on October 9, 2020, in Raleigh, NC.
Roy was born in Elyria, Ohio on January 22, 1971. He is survived by his children Kiana, Jessica, Emilee and Nolan; his Mother, Patricia Burkey; and two brothers, Jeffery and Gary Cooper.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, Navy Reserves and Army National Guard. Sergeant Cooper served in the National Guard for 23 years, completing four tours in the Middle East—two in Afghanistan and two in Iraq—and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal.
Roy was a full-time realtor for the Century 21 Triangle Group in Raleigh, NC. He was radiant, full of life and enjoyed many things, including running, biking, hiking, traveling, reading, cigars, kilts, beer and eating tacos. Roy was charismatic, loved people and spent his downtime surrounded by friends and family. He traveled often, always making a point to visit family and friends. He knew something about everything and was full of historical anecdotes, life lessons and how-tos.
His wit and jokes will be missed. His goofy and adventurous spirit, infectious smile, huge heart and wise words touched many. He was the best mentor, friend, father and son anyone could ask for, and leaves a lasting impact in his wake.
