Sandra "Sande" Jean Leslie born August 1, 1956 passed away April 19, 2021 after an unbelievably courageous fight with debilitating illness. She was truly Super Woman, which she showed us through many years of undeniable strength and willpower and her continued love for others. She was often smiling and contagiously laughing through some of the worst days while pushing herself to overcome challenges most of us could not begin to imagine.
She was preceded in death by her wonderful son, Gregory, and her loving parents, Jerome and Betty Powers. She leaves behind a supportive husband of over forty years, Warren, and a beloved daughter, Arianne, as well as many nieces and nephews, lifelong friends and countless others mourning this great loss. The statement "to know her, was to love her" has never rung more true than with Sande.
She was a force to be reckoned with, had a killer wit, and was the most fun-loving and compassionate of people. She was the best mother anyone could ask for, the daughter who made her parents whole, and the friend you called when you needed someone you could count on.
She loved to travel and worked at American Airlines for almost 25 years. She also found talents in writing, furniture upholstery, sewing, tiling, house projects, and just about anything else she put her mind to.
She will be truly missed beyond measure and the world has greatly dimmed without her smile.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Sande on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Crabtree Shelter (#1) at William B Umstead Park from 3:30 to 7:30 pm.
This is an outside event to be mindful of covid restrictions. Refreshments will be provided.
