Obituary

Steve Amos Bissette was born in Nash County the son of Amos Cleveland Bissette and Luna Belle (Lewis) Bissette on October10, 1942. Steve grew up in Middlesex, NC, one of four children, and after high school he joined the Army.

After his honorable discharge, he went home to raise his two baby girls, Stephanie and Sarita, as a single father. When here married to Sandra H. Gower, he gained two step-daughters, Sharon and Sheryl, and a stepson, Sherwood(Sonny). The blended family lived in Raleigh. During this marriage, Sheila was born. Steve and Sandra took the family camping every weekend at Kerr Lake with friends. He loved his family, the lake, boating, classic cars, and his Harley.

Steve was a lineman at CP&L serving Raleigh and Wake County. When he retired in the early 90s, he moved to Virginia where he had a lake house that he built on Lake Gaston, and a farm in Gasburg. The last eighteen years of his life, he lived back in his hometown of Middlesex to be closer to his family. He loved getting together often with his daughters and granddaughter for lunches and dinners.

Steve passed away peacefully at the age of 80 with his daughters and granddaughter, Chelsea, by his side on August 14, 2023.

Steve was preceded in death by his loving parents Amos Cleveland Bissette and Lune Belle Bissette, his beloved siblings Harold Bissette and Barbara Ann Dunbar, his brother-in-law The Reverend Dr. Alfred Thomas, and his nephew Greg Bissette.

Steve leaves behind a legacy of love and family, and he will be deeply missed by his three children: Stephanie Burks (husband Tony) of Wendell, Sarita Bissette (wife Julie and baby Maddie) of Roxboro, and Sheila Bayles (husband Jim) of Fuquay Varina. Steve was very proud of and will be lovingly remembered by his granddaughter, Chelsea Grace Dean of Fuquay Varina, his sister Elaine Bissette Thomas of Raleigh, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
