Obituary

Ms. Tammy Stepney was born July 5, 1958, in Buffalo, NY, to the union of thelate Mr. Charles Stepney Jr. and the late Mrs. Mary Fate (known as May Faye) James Stepney, who passed on May 17, 2022. She was the fourth child of five children.

Ms. Stepney received her primary and secondary education in the Buffalo City School District in Buffalo, NY.

She faithfully served the Buffalo Board of Education System for 25-years and retired in 2016. Also, she was passionate about doing hair and remained faithful to her skill set until August 2021.

Tammy was a True Bethel Baptist Church member for over 20 years and was on the Usher Board and Church Daycare member.

On Sunday, May 15, 2022, Ms. Stepney transitioned to her heavenly home in Wendell, NC.
 

Our mother sacrificed everything for all her children, nieces, and nephews. We all knew Tam-Rock as the center of our life; she nurtured all who encountered her, providing them with love and compassion. Tammy was the best mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, anyone, could imagine. Her passion for the family was unconditional and never questioned. Seeing us enjoying each other and celebrating various occasions brought her joy and peace.

Tammy was preceded in death by her grandson David Hunter Jr., maternal grandparents Albert James and Daisy McFarland James, paternal grandparents Charles Stepney Sr. and Rachel Alexander Stepney and Aunt Ida Bell James Brown, and other relatives.

She leaves to cherish her memories; two daughters: Ms. Shawneequa Nicole Stepney Harris of Buffalo, NY, Mrs. Carrie Mae (Sandra Alexis) Ingram of Wendell, NC; and one son Terrence Fentrick Rhone Jr. of New York, New York; two brothers: Charlie Stepney, III. of Chicago, IL; Dezel (Elnoria) Stepney of Lawrenceville, GA; two sisters: Gwendolyn Stepney of Buffalo, NY, Trina (Michael) Porter of Buffalo, NY; Betty Brewster her best friend for 50-years of

Buffalo, NY; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends
