Willie Mae Green

January 28, 1945 ~ July 31, 2023 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Obituary

Mrs. Willie Mae Jones Green was the daughter of the late Mr. Raleigh and Mrs. Jennie Anne Jones. Her sunrise began on January 28th, 1945, and she finished her course on July 31, 2023. She was educated in the Lenoir County School system during her formative years. An unwavering commitment to learning and personal growth defined Willie Mae's life.

She made a life-changing decision to start anew in Raleigh, NC in her early twenties while seeking opportunities for a better life. With a resolute spirit, she left her past behind and embraced the possibilities that lay ahead.

She married Mr. McKinley Green and their love blossomed into a beautiful union. Their marriage flourished, standing the test of time for an admirable 28 years, a testament to the enduring bond they shared.

Her career journey led her to various opportunities in the food service industry. She found a sense of belonging and solace at the Angus Barn Restaurant. She retired from this business after thirty-five years of dedicated service. The Angus Barn Restaurant was a haven where she felt appreciated and cherished.

Willie's talents blossomed and her signature homemade crackers became favorites among patrons and colleagues alike. She poured her heart into every basket, infusing them with love and dedication, making the dining experience truly exceptional for everyone who had the pleasure of savoring her creations.

A woman of noble character is not easily found. Her price is worth more than rubies. Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised! She became a covenant member of Mt. Pleasant Worship and Outreach Center under the leadership of Apostle Phillip and Co-Pastor Vickie Walker. She exemplified a spirit of generosity, commitment, and dedication by faithfully participating in the Fit for Life Ministry and Women of Excellence Ministry.

Her passionate love for God and His people, family and friends sustained her and provided a way for her to share her time and talents with others. Mother Green was known for her reticence, steadfast faith, commitment, fervent worship, stoicism, and renown spirit of resiliency during times of adversity.

Willie Mae was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mr. McKinley Green, and her dear siblings: Hattie, Francis, Jessie, Raleigh Jr., Frank, and David.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and family. She will be dearly missed by her three children: Willie M. Green, Zella Green-Fields, and Brenda Green, all residing in Raleigh, NC. She will be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren: Elder Demetries Green (Elder Porscha) of Clayton, NC, John Green, Rita Fields, Crystal Fields, and Monica Haynes of Raleigh, NC, Veronica Haynes of Zebulon, NC, and Victoria Green of Fayetteville, NC; three great-grandsons: Elijah Fields-Jeffreys and Aaron Haynes of Raleigh, NC; Aiden Haynes of Zebulon, NC, and her great-granddaughter, Lachelle Turnbull of Zebulon, NC; loving sisters: Raleigh Henrietta Jones of Dudley, NC and Bernice Bryant of Goldsboro, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and prayer warriors whose lives she touched with her kindness and grace.
